Miss Pessimistic
I feel that time’s slipping out of my fingers. What I’ve
grasped for almost two months now is slowly slipping away. Summer Vacation is
nearing its final bow, and I know I’m not the only one to shout “Encore!” out
loud, at the top of my lungs.
Ugh, the social media. One day you’re posting pictures of
your Singapore trip, “unknowingly” (and presumably) making people sigh with
longing and wish it was them travelling, but, the next day you’re looking at
albums called “Euro Trip” or “The Best Place In the Whole World, Suckas” and
wish YOU were the one who was in their shoes. After my Boracay trip with my Med
friends I wanted to go to another fun, exciting trip but time and money do not
go hand in hand for me at all. This is my last free summer vacay, I just want
something to happen, I want to feel the thrill of road trips and inhale the
fresh, Manila-free air once again before classes start. But maybe the trouble
is not always the money. I have a strict Mom so travelling with my friends or
even nights out always was an issue.
Maybe that explains the weird otherworldly dreams I have. I always liked
dreaming, it takes me to places and faces no sane human being would ever imagine.
Maybe in this world, dreams are inversely proportional to the life you are
actually living. Anyway, all I’m saying is, I may not be living the life I
desire… as of the moment. Summer vacation sucks when you’re stuck at home.
Forgive me if I’m being Miss Pessimistic now but I’m trying here. That was why
I chose to write these feelings down and get it over with and start doing
stuff, you know. I’ll be making the most out of the soon-to-be-over vacation,
even if I won’t go places like in my dreams. Hopefully come June, when classes
are here I’d be telling everyone, “I had a summer blast, suckas.”

Galactic Summer
Purple eyes x Orange lips, a perfect combo for those summer nights.
I did this a long time ago so I can barely remember the names of the shades I used, but I got the colors from the UD Vice palette and Naked 2. Just make sure to put some neutral color like brown on the crease for depth. As for my lips, I swiped on MAC Good to Go. :)

Our Big Blessing
My older sister gave birth last April 4 and we couldn't be any happier. Meet Mereille Alessa Gucaban-Tayag, my adorable little niece.
The day she was born was supposed to be uneventful for us, since we accompanied my sister only to see the OB-Gyn who happened to be my professor in Med school. The day started to change its course when we found out she was already dilated and already in labor, and needed to be admitted to the delivery room. Given that the baby's position in the womb was breech(meaning the feet of the fetus were touching the bottom of the womb instead of the head), she had a C-section done and fortunately the baby was delivered safely.
My sister and I were always debating how her baby would look like and now we have a very tangible little human whom I deem my look-alike. Hahaha, well, at least our lips look alike. I've always loved kids and my being Aunt is a happy moment for me! Just look at her, she looks so adorable with those little headbands!
She just celebrated her 1st month Last Saturday when we headed home from Boracay, but that's another story to tell! Write soon!

March On
March is fast approaching and so is everything a med student wishes most for - SUMMER VACATION. What a taste of heaven it'll be, to just walk out that door(cue the flying test papers and the slow mo run towards freedom) and forget pretending to be smart and actually have the right to remain sluggish for the whole stretch of the vacay. A month to go and I get to say goodbye to 2nd year med, foreva.
Time really zooms by, looking back at all the stuff I had to do starting June of last year, I can say that I did good. Yeah, some subjects fcuked me up really bad but I was able to recover fast. It's prolly 'cos first year medicine taught me how to do that. Believe me, I had a taste of pretty disgusting grades... I'm not the smartest person in class you see, not even the second best. I'm just your average Joe, the kind of individual who has to strive hard to aim something you know, who sometimes has to Wiki something just to come up with the right answer, the kind who sometimes relies on her classmates for an answer to the professor's question. How I survived an entire year of med school, I don't know, I just took one day at a time, and it wasn't easy. There were a lot of crying and doubting plus coffee in between, to the point that I had to convince myself that I'd end up nowhere if I don't go on. I didn't get to see my old friends that much anymore, and it's not long before all the zits on my face make their very own zipcode. Every cloud comes with a silver lining though, truth be told, I'm still here 'cos I love it here, and, by the way, I love how I gained almost 10 pounds since first year. I think I look better with some chunk on my face and with dimples, thank you very much.
One more month. Hopefully I pass everything, and if I do, I might have to do that slow-mo run after all.
Live long and prosper.

Hello from some part of the world.
I'm in SG right now taking my time off from the hustle and bustle that is Manila. I'm enjoying my time here so far. It's a bit lonely though, cos my sister's not here so I have to sleep in my room alone. She's back in Manila, busy being pregnant and all. She's due late April and we couldn't be more excited for the baby's coming. We don't know the gender yet so at Ikea my Mom bought cute baby stuff appropriate for both male and female.
A lot has happened since the last time I wrote here, it has gone so busy in Med school I couldn't even watch a full show on TV.
I'm coping well in fact, what with all the mind-crunching demands of Med. Ugh. It's the holidays, and really I shouldn't be talking about anything school related. Haha. I'm just really relieved I got to leave the country and surround myself with a whole new environment. We all need something new(well not really, this is my 5th time visiting SG) sometimes, you know, it keeps us going. Monotony isn't really my thing you know.
In a few days we're coming home to Manille and hopefully I've already regained all energy to go on with stuff.

Happy holidays!

MUA for the Lumineux Fashion Show
Here are some BTS photos from last month's event. :)
The designer wanted an intense smokey look, so I basically just patted on lots of black on the outer corners. The model's Keren, my classmate/friend/bitch-friend in Med. Hahaha! We get along like that.
This was my first real gig as an aspiring makeup artist. I have always wanted to be one since I was 19, and now that I'm 23, I'm still chasing this dream and I'm already gaining on it. How come I'm able to do it little by little?
I'm on a really tight budget right now cos I'm not working and still a student, I have very limited stuff and will not be able to hoard loads of makeup anytime soon, I stick to drugstore brands(except for lipsticks, which I'm most fond of) and I have a very tiny makeup case(I don't have those thingies which have wheels and lightbulbs in them. Haha). Nonetheless, I'm still going to pursue this passion of mine. :)
